Yadiri Mejia Lopez

Personal Profile

Yadiri was born in rural Colombia by the end of the seventies. In her early twenties love brought her to Amsterdam as she married a young Dutch student. Together they moved to Chad where they both worked for the UN (UNICEF). Here, Yadiri also worked for several international NGOs.

 

It was here that she discovered her passion for humanitarian work and helping people in need.

Upon their return in the Netherlands, Yadiri worked for Médecins sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders) Amsterdam bringing her to places like Central African Republic (CAR) and  Haiti. She later worked in Sudan and in Costa Rica. In the latter country she also volunteered with a national NGOs assisting the underprivileged (Fundación creando Sonrisas).

Back in the Hague in 2017  she joined OXFAM NOVIB. Here she focuses on business control, and she has managed several substantial budgets, working with donors like the EU, NL MFA, SIDA and the private sector.

​

A mother of two sons, Yadiri likes to travel, to read and to get to know new people and their cultures.
